FAR EAST MEETS FAR WEST GOURMET ITALIAN TAPAS IN KOREATOWN

It all started when Mike Kim, Founder/Owner of The 2nd Floor Gastro Pub & Sport Bar decided he wanted to transform his Sports Bar into a restaurant. That idea became a reality when Kim, a sushi chef, partnered with his longtime friend and fellow Los Angeles restauranteur Stefano Ongaro to bring fine Italian dining in the form of Italian Piccoli Piatti (Tapas) menu to Koreatown at the newly named 2nd Floor Restaurant Bar and Grill.

“It was fate,” says Stefano, a former Italian baseball player who came to America at the age of 30 and established himself with a 14-year-run as Captian and Maitre d’ at Piero Selvaggio’s internationally famous Valentino, before establishing his own multi-award-winning All’ Angelo, where he and Kim had the good fortune to meet.

It was a team vision all the way, with Mike’s own passion for home cooking and his background in investment banking that would ultimately make their vision a reality and transform his Sports Bar into their 2nd Floor Restaurant Bar and Grill.
